What is Keto Diet?


         A diet that consists of more fat, less protein, and very little carbs is the keto diet. When you follow this diet your blood glucose and insulin levels decline. In this condition, as the insulin levels are low and also you are taking a diet which
is less in carbs, so your body starts burning fat in your body and ketones are
produced. These are compounds containing a ketone functional group. This process of production of ketone bodies is known as ketosis. That’s why this diet is called the keto diet. Ketone
bodies are ultimately oxidized in mitochondria and produce energy. Ketone bodies
act as fuel sources for the brain, heart, and muscle.

Some of the most common Keto diet foods include:

  • Seafood: Fish and shellfish

  • Meat 

  • Eggs

  • Cheese

  • Olives

  • Avocados

  • Cucumber

  • Cauliflower

  • Cabbage

  • Spinach
